Marriage and civil partnerships can take place in religious buildings, but they have to registered or licenced for this purpose.
If you are planning to hold your ceremony in a religious building then they will advise you if you need to give civil legal preliminaries or your bands can be read.
Some religious buildings will also need a Registrar to attend on the day to complete the legal part of your marriage.
